Andrea Curiale is an Italian classical guitarist whose playing is shaped by a singing approach to the instrument, with particular attention to sound, phrasing and musical clarity.
He began his studies with Paolo Lambiase, who laid the foundations of his musical and technical development. He later attended Aniello Desiderio’s masterclasses for several years, an experience that played an important role in his growth as a guitarist and musician.
Andrea graduated with highest honors from the Conservatorio “Nicola Sala” in Benevento and continued his studies in Switzerland at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. There he studied with Lorenzo Micheli and completed both a Master of Arts in Music Performance and a Master of Advanced Studies. These years allowed him to broaden his repertoire while continuing to refine his artistic voice.
Andrea has won several international competitions, including first prizes at the Giulio Rospigliosi Competition, the International Guitar Competition “Città di Padova” and the Pleven Guitar Festival in Bulgaria. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Italy and abroad, with appearances for the Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti and at venues including the Oratorio del Gonfalone in Rome. In 2026 he will return to the Pleven Guitar Festival, performing with the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra.
His repertoire extends from early music to contemporary works. He has always been especially drawn to music in which sound plays a central role, while continuing to explore the different styles and expressive possibilities of the guitar.
In 2023 he released his debut album dedicated to Ferdinando Carulli, a project highlighting some of the finest concert works by a composer still too often associated mainly with didactic repertoire.
His current work focuses on twentieth-century Italian music, including both established and lesser-known works. This repertoire is at the centre of his next recording project.
Alongside his performing activity, Andrea teaches guitar privately and in the Italian public school system.
